My name is Yumi, and I run YUMIDON, an authentic Japanese takeaway in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Since opening, I’ve met many customers who are interested in learning about Japanese language and culture. This inspired me to create a Japanese Chat Club with an Origami Workshop, hosted at YUMIDON on 15 February.

The aim of this event is to invite local residents who enjoy meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and taking part in relaxed community activities. Through simple Japanese conversation practice and hands-on origami making, I hope to create a friendly and welcoming space where people can connect and share experiences.

YUMIDON has become a small community hub, and this event is a way to strengthen that local connection and celebrate cultural exchange within our neighbourhood.
