“In Bloom” is a solo exhibition by UK-based Japanese artist and writer Sonoko Obuchi.

Through fabric painting, embroidery, installation, and photography, the exhibition explores themes of mental health, identity, and emotional healing. Inspired by personal experiences as a Japanese artist and a mother living in the UK for over 25 years, the exhibition reflects on what it means to become more honest with oneself and to grow through vulnerability.

The exhibition traces a personal journey from darkness toward hope, inspired by experiences of school refusal, depression, and emotional recovery within family life.

Supported by The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, the exhibition will include new textile works encouraging reflection, empathy, and connection.

Opening party drinks kindly sponsored by Hakutsuru Europe.
