Get ready to dive into a whirlwind of Japanese culture and fun at Japan Fest Derby, where Derby’s QUAD turns into a vibrant celebration of all things Japan. Think bustling stall holders serving up delicious food, quirky crafts and unique finds alongside hands-on cultural activities that make the day feel like a mini adventure through the streets of Tokyo and Kyoto.

Before you explore the stalls, challenge a friend to a match of Go or Shogi, experience a Akihabara Maid Cafe with Meian Maids or try your hand at traditional origami. Slip into a gorgeous kimono, paint a whimsical fox mask, or cheer on the colourful cosplay parade! There’s always something to inspire and surprise at every turn.

On stage, you’ll be able to catch the throwback glamour and powerhouse vocals of LJ English (Kayoukyoku singer), experience the beauty and symbolism of Sara Noh Theatre, and soak up live music with AKI’s koto performance and Hibiki Shamisenbringing that unmistakable sound and energy. There’s also a pop-culture hit of fun with Giuseppe Sessa’s One Piece-themed “Jolly Roger” guitar performance, and DJ Manimal & Cerisina delivering the high-energy Hatsune Miku Glow Stick Experience with big-screen anime visuals.

When you need some chill time, grab a seat in the cinema for two movie screenings (films to be confirmed — but expect something magical and crowd-pleasing!), making this festival perfect for cinema fans too.

Whether you’re wandering between stalls full of handcrafted treasures, grooving to live music, trying tasty Japanese treats or getting stuck into cultural activities, Japan Fest Derby promises a full-on, joyful celebration of Japanese pop and traditional culture that delights all ages.
