On March 12th, as part of the Japan – UK season of Culture 2019-2020, Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum will be holding a lecture and workshop on Kimono.
The lecture will be given by Dr Saeko Yazaki, a lecturer in Religious Studies and Japanese traditions at the University of Glasgow. In addition to Kimono, Dr Yazaki will also be discussing the historical connections between Glasgow and Japan.
After the lecture there will be a craft workshop and opportunity to make ‘Tsumami-zaiku’, decorative flowers using traditional Japanese cloth.
If you are interested in learning about traditional Japanese clothing, please come along to listen. The event is free, and please reserve your ticket in advance through our Eventbrite page.
