MANGA JIMAN: IN RETROSPECT
Celebrating 12 years of the Embassy of Japan’s manga-writing competition
Manga (Japanese comics and graphic novels) are very much part of the fabric of Japanese society. They are read by people of all ages and occupy prime shelf space in convenience stores, libraries and schools across the country. Manga has transcended cultural barriers and its influence reaches audiences all over the world.
In 2007, the Embassy launched the Manga Jiman competition to cater for the growing interest in manga in the UK and provide a platform for the best manga artists in the country. This exhibition looks back over 12 years of the competition and celebrates the stories of the winning artists who have gone on to even bigger and brighter achievements.
Admission is free, but photo ID is necessary to gain entry to the Embassy.
