A talk and taster performance event in collaboration with Powell Tuck Associates, featuring in the London Festival of Architecture, to provide insights of THE鍵KEY: Francesca Le Lohé 's new work inspired by Junichiro Tanizaki’s book of the same title ‘The Key’ (1956). During the talk we will explore how performing in a private house changes the experience of the audience and crosses the boundaries of public and private spaces. We will talk about the differences between concepts of privacy in Japanese and British architecture and present an excerpt of the performance.

THE鍵KEY: a site-specific, dramatic musical work by Francesca Le Lohé, inspired by Junichiro Tanizaki’s ‘The Key ’(1956) shall make its UK premiere at Tête à Tête Opera Festival in August 2019. The performances take place in a private residence where audiences move freely around, peering in on small ensembles of singers, a dancer, and Japanese and Western instruments as this intimate drama unfolds.
