The publication and distribution of a single issue in March 2020 (1300 copies) of The Modernist magazine themed entirely on Japan. The Modernist is a publication dedicated to celebrating the architecture and design of the twentieth century. Each issue is themed and each year the four issues begin with the same letter, e.g. Inventory, Infrastructure, In-between, Invisible. In 2020 our issues will all begin with the letter J, and we aim to have Japan as one of the issues.
Each issue contains around twelve articles with photographs of about 1000 words each.
The magazine is targeted toward the architecture and design enthusiast rather than the professional or academic, and also has a large following of architects, artists and designers.
The Modernist is published by the not for profit Modernist Society based in Manchester.
