Windowology: New Architectural Views from Japan
Postponed

Running from 16 April until 28 June 2020, Windowology: New Architectural Views from Japan presents a multidisciplinary exhibition combining the architecture of windows, photography, manga, craft and technology.

Produced by the Window Research Institute under the direction of architectural historian and critic Igarashi Taro, this free exhibition looks at the ways in which windows frame our vision to give us unique perspectives on the world.

Within the exhibition visitors can explore various different disciplines and their relation to windows, from the manga strips of popular comic ‘Sazae-san’ to the role that windows play in the making of Japanese crafts, through to a full-scale reconstruction of a famous Japanese teahouse.

The exhibition encourages visitors to discover the significance of windows beyond their primary architectural function and consider the impact they have on each of us, every day.

This event is free to attend and runs as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2020. Please find more information on how to visit us, and Gallery opening times, here.
