JAY RUBIN will be speaking at the University of Glasgow’s Japanese Book Club, as part of the Stay-at-Home! Fringe Literary Festival. This is an online event, and open to everyone. RSVP is encouraged (please see URL). Rubin is Takashima Research Professor of Japanese Humanities Emeritus at Harvard University. Though you may know him best as one of the principal translators of the work of Haruki Murakami – and from his translations of Sōseki Natsume and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. He is the author of Haruki Murakami and the Music of Words (Vintage) and the novel The Sun Gods (Chin Music Press). In 2018 he edited a collection of Japanese stories for Penguin, aptly published as The Penguin Book of Japanese Short Stories.
