In an evening of words and music, acclaimed pianist Reiko Fujisawa and Crawford Logan (narrator) explore Beethoven’s extraordinary contribution to musical development and his unmatched legacy, both as composer and virtuoso pianist.
The narrative will highlight the early influences on Beethoven, his innovative genius, and the effect he had on other pianists, composers and instrument makers of his day. The exploration will encompass Haydn and Clementi through to Schubert, Liszt and Wagner. Music from all periods of Beethoven’s life will be featured alongside selected works by the composers and pianists whose lives and output were shaped by him, and who in turn became significant figures in the romantic era.
Specially devised narration has been created by musicologist, journalist and author Peter Quantrill, delivered live on stage by Crawford Logan.
