HYPER JAPAN is the largest exhibition celebrating Japanese culture to be held in the UK. Organized by Cross Media Ltd., it was first held in London 2010. Centred on Japanese cuisine and popular culture such as gaming, manga, anime and music, the event introduces a wide range of Japanese culture, encompassing technology, fashion, traditional crafts.
Having undertaken the difficult decision to postpone the Festival due to the spread of COVID-19, HYPER JAPAN is providing exclusive online content straight from Japan, including webinars, entertainment and shopping.

Please be prepared 10 minutes before the workshop starts.
1. Greeting and explaining the workshop plan
2. Brush warm-up exercise
3. Explanation of the forms of Kanji characters
4. Regular style brush basic practice
(10 minutes break)
5. Explaining the stroke orders and balance of Kanji : ”Ambition" & ”Eternity”
6. Finalise the artworks of two kanjis.
7. Q&A Time

Koshu Japanese Art : Akemi Lucas (雅号:紅秋)
Koshu is the identity of Akemi Lucas as a Japanese calligraphy master. She was born in Japan and started learning calligraphy from the age of eight. Her distinct style of calligraphy builds on traditional skills, and further embodies of fusion of the ancient and the modern, the eastern and the western, and the before and the after. Currently, she is based in the UK as a Japanese artist, predominantly working on exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, and commissions. Her latest calligraphy artworks were used in the 2019 Rugby World Cup and a multi-media advertising campaign for the main sponsor of the British Olympic team for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
