Japan House London is delighted to invite you to explore the creative world of Saitō Seiichi, prominent Japanese designer and the artistic director of the exhibition MAKING NUNO Japanese Textile Innovation from Sudō Reiko currently on display at Japan House.
This online talk event will take a closer look at Saitō Seiichi’s design inspiration and processes, his involvement in producing the MAKING NUNO exhibition, and his recent design projects in Japan and abroad. The talk features OKUYAMATO MIND TRAIL Museum in your mind (see image), a new form of walking art festival produced by Saitō Seiichi and held in Nara Prefecture between October to November 2020; works and activities of Panoramatiks, the multidisciplinary creative agency he heads; and his involvement in the Expo 2020 Dubai Japan Pavilion and in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
During this live online event, there is an opportunity for registered guests to ask questions to the speaker.
About the Speaker
Saitō Seiichi
Born in Kanagawa in 1975, Saitō Seiichi began his career in New York in 2000 after graduating from Columbia University with a Master of Science degree in Advanced Architectural Design (MSAAD). Since then, he has been active in creative work at the ArnellGroup, and returned to Japan upon being selected for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2003. He produces works in the commercial art field which are three-dimensional and interactive while also being based on the firm grounding in logical thought that he cultivated through architecture. He has won numerous international awards since 2009. He launched Rhizomatiks Co., Ltd. in 2006. He currently serves as director of Panoramatiks (formerly Rhizomatiks Architecture).
He is also Vice Chairman of Good Design Award 2018-21, Creative Adviser of the 2020 Dubai Expo Japan Pavilion, and an expert for the People's Living Lab Promotion Council for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
