Screenings: 1964 Tokyo Olympics Short Films

As part of the current exhibition Tokyo 1964: Designing Tomorrow, Japan House London is delighted to show two short films.

1964 Sports Timers features exclusive footage of sports time pieces made for the Tokyo 1964 Games including interviews with designers who worked at Seiko at the time.

The Kyodo News film, Tokyo Is Prepared for The Biggest Olympic Games, provides silent news footage which begins with the arrival of the Olympic Flame in Japan and ends with a rehearsal for the opening ceremony. It also features the various specially built Olympic venues, the Athletes’ Village and examples of how Tokyo celebrated the Games.
