On 3rd November 2008, the Government of Japan announced the 2008 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals. The Decoration is conferred on those individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions towards friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and their own countries. In the United Kingdom, 3 British citizens will be conferred.
1. Alan Vaughan Lowe (Chichele Professor of Public International Law, University of Oxford)
Conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for his contribution to the advancement of intellectual exchange in the field of international law.
2. David Sydney Rowe-Beddoe (Chairman, Wales Millennium Centre)
Conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon for his contribution to enhancing economic and cultural relations between Japan and the United Kingdom.
3. Opal Lydia Dunn (Honorary President of the International Children's Bunko Association)
Conferred The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays for her contribution to international education for Japanese children. |
