Visit by Chief Cabinet Secretary Hosoda to the British Embassy in Tokyo to Express the Sympathy of the Government of Japan for Those Sacrificed in a Series of Explosions in London

At around noon on July 8 on behalf of Prime Minister Koizumi currently visiting the United Kingdom, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hosoda visited the British Embassy in Tokyo to express the sympathy of the Government of Japan for those who were sacrificed in a series of explosions in London.

At the Embassy Mr. Hosoda expressed the deep condolences of the Government of Japan to the Government of the U.K. and the bereaved families in a series of explosions that sacrificed a number of people, and conveyed a message to Mr. Graham Fry, the British Ambassador to Japan, that Japan supports the handling of the case by Prime Minister Blair and is prepared to provide any cooperation.

At 13:30 p.m., Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Yachi also visited the Embassy on behalf of Foreign Minister Machimura, who is now traveling overseas, to express sympathy for those who were sacrificed in a series of explosions.
