At the 2006 World Travel Market, held at Londons Excel from November 6 to 9, Japan was represented by the Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) and Japanese travel experts in the field of transport, tours and accommodation. Supported by the Japanese Governments Visit Japan Campaign, JNTO and its twelve co-exhibitors promoted Japan by offering information and advice to people working in the travel industry and the media.
Mr. Okuda, Director of JNTO London, announced that this year JNTO London is launching the Cool Japan - Fusion with Tradition campaign to make people aware that Japan is not only about geisha, sumo, gardens, temples and Mt Fuji. One of Japan's key charms is its dynamic blend of old and new. Through the campaign we wish to highlight that Tokyo, along with New York, Paris and London, is now one of the world's leading cities when it comes to trends in food, fashion and pop culture. It is expected that by highlighting Japan's cool modern attractions we will soon see more young couples, single young professionals and families travelling to Japan.
