Parliament Event: Japanese Companies and Brexit

On the evening of Monday 31 October 2016, at Portcullis House in London, the Embassy of Japan and British-Japanese Parliament Group co-hosted an event titled "Japanese Companies and Brexit". More than 250 guests joined the event including 70 MPs and Lords, including The Rt Hon David Davis, the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Health, Chris Grayling, the Secretary of State for Transport, as well as over 80 Japanese business leaders.
This event aimed to demonstrate the role of Japanese businesses and their huge contribution to the UK economy and society, and to promote discussion regarding a wide range of challenges, including Brexit.
Keynote speeches from Ambassador Tsuruoka, The Rt Hon David Davis MP, the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Mr Paul Drechsler, President of the CBI, and Mr Haruki Hayashi, President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UK, were followed by lively discussion among participants.
This was the second Parliament Event held by the Embassy of Japan, following last year.
