Ambassador Tsuruoka honours Ms Janice Brennan

On 1 March 2017, Ms Janice Brennan was awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation for her distinguished contribution to friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and the United Kingdom as a Bencher of the Middle Temple.
 
Ms Brennan has been practicing criminal law as a barrister since 1981 and has been engaged in the education of young lawyers especially in the field of advocacy. As a Bencher of the Middle Temple, she has contributed greatly to seminars for Japanese prosecutors with members of the Middle Temple, which were established in 2005. She has also dedicated much time to supporting Japanese lawyers who are learning the British legal system. In his remarks, Ambassador Tsuruoka praised Miss Brennan as a source of constant help and inspiration to Japanese lawyers.
 
Ms Brennan thanked the Ambassador and paid tribute to members of the Middle Temple who have been working with Japanese lawyers. She stressed the importance of the cooperation between Japan and the UK which share a strong belief of the Rule of Law and valued the benefit of lawyers from the two countries working together.
