Ambassador's Commendation - Commander David Hilton

On 4 July 2019, at the Japan Self Defense Force Reception, Commander David Hilton was awarded a Commendation by Ambassador Tsuruoka for his distinguished contribution to the Japan-UK defense cooperation.
Commander David Hilton, as Command Manager of the Royal Navy Portsmouth Base (HMNB Portsmouth), supervises the base's logistical support operations. During that time, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Training Squadron made three visits (2013, 2016, 2018). Due to Commander Hilton’s careful coordination and support each year, the fleet could complete its mission in the UK.
In particular, on the occasion of the first application of the Japan-UK Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA) at the port call in 2018, Commander David Hilton coordinated with the Royal Navy and the Ministry of Defence to facilitate smooth logistical support. Thanks to his great contribution, the interoperability between the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force and Royal Navy has greatly developed and is continuing to flourish.
Commander David Hilton thanked Ambassador Tsuruoka and emphasized the importance of Japan-UK defense cooperation.
