Update from the JICC and Introduction of Online Japanese Cultural Resources
2020/6/15
Update on the current situation
As with last month, our facilities still remain closed to the public until further notice. However, online activities continue via our social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter. We have a range of videos on our YouTube channel where you can see reports from previous events, and many online events are being added for the Japan-UK Season of Culture - which has a newly updated website!

Online Japanese cultural resources
With cultural activities largely taking place online under the current situation, we would like to draw your attention in particular to the following three examples of how you can experience Japanese culture from the comfort of your own home!
1. Have a guided tour online
The V&A curated an exciting exhibition devoted to kimono - the first of it`s kind in Europe. Closed to the public not long after opening, the museum has now published a series of five films that take viewers on a personal, 30-minute behind-the-scenes tour by curator Anna Jackson. Viewers are guided through the exhibition spaces with a personal insight into the making of the show, a look at the star exhibits and fascinating history of the iconic garment. Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk - Curator Tour
2. Take a virtual visit to a exhibition
Anno's Journey: The World of Anno Mitsumasa - 3D Virtual Tour by Japan House London gives you a full audiovisual, 3D experience of this exhibition celebrating the life and works of one of Japan’s most beloved and prolific artists, Anno Mitsumasa, who is best known for his picture books with few or no words. Through this virtual tour you can simply take a browse at your own pace, or have a more in-depth look by clicking on the artwork and text.
3. Test your knowledge with a quiz
Are you a Japanese food expert? A fan of Sumo? Try your hand at our online quizzes! Fun and simple to use, our short quizzes will test your knowledge or perhaps teach you something new. So far we have posted two via our social media channels. Make sure to follow us to get the latest quiz updates.
