Ambassador & Madame Hayashi’s visit to the sakura tree planting ceremony at Capel Manor College

On 2 September, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended sakura (cherry blossom) tree planting ceremony held at Capel Manor College. The Sakura Cherry Tree Planting Project has been launched to plant more than 7000 tress all over the UK commemorating 150 years of Japan-UK friendship and the continued cooperation between the two nations. 50 cherry trees were donated to Capel Manor College.

The ceremony was attended by The Most Honourable Marquess and Marchioness of Salisbury, Mr Malcolm Goodwin, Principal of Capel Manor College, and Mr SANO Keisaku, Chairman of The Sakura Cherry Tree Committee. Ambassador Hayashi made remarks to highlight Japan-UK relations tied with sakura trees and to express gratitude to those involved in the project. He then joined other attendees to plant cherry trees at the site.
