Speakers:

Chris McGinley is a Senior Research Fellow based in the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design (HHCD) at the Royal College of Art (RCA). There he leads the Age and Diversity research space, and the Design Age Institute’s Research Unit. An award-winning designer, researcher and writer he has successfully commercialized, exhibited and disseminated work internationally for a host of major global private, public and third sector companies over the last 20 years. His research interests explore the role of empathy and design ethnography to improve lives.

Laila Cassim is a practising designer and researcher based in Tokyo, who is interested in social inclusion and works with several social-welfare organisations providing work and care for people with severe learning disabilities and/or mental health issues. Combining graphic design’s visual communication skills with Inclusive Design's co-creation process, she aims to achieve better financial income and social connections through creative practices. Her projects have won several national design awards in Japan.
