On 12 May, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended the opening event of the exhibition “Kasimir Malevich Raku Kichizaemon XV” at the Annely Juda Fine Art gallery in London.

The exhibition displays tea bowls by Raku Kichizaemon XV Jikinyū, who represents the 15th generation of a family of outstanding artisans that goes back to the 16th century of Japan, and drawings by Kasimir Malevich (1879- 1935), the Polish-Ukrainian Russian avant-garde artist. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time a collection of works of Raku Kichizaemon XV Jikinyū to be exhibited in the UK.

In his remarks at the reception that Raku Jikinyu himself attended, Ambassador Hayashi said that Jikinyu had a distinctive style reflecting his mission of constantly searching for ways of imbuing the traditional tea bowl format with new modes of expression.

The exhibition will run from 12 May to 9 July 2022.
