On July 9, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi visited Newmarket Racecourse to exchange views with members of the Jockey Club which operates many racecourses in the UK. Members included Lord Grimthorpe, CEO Mr Truesdale, and Director of International and Racing Relations Mr Wallis. Ambassador and Madame Hayashi also enjoyed watching the July Cup 2022 at the racecourse.

At the discussion with the Jockey club members, Ambassador Hayashi spoke about his appreciation for the longtime cultural exchanges in the field of horse racing between Japan and the UK and the importance of cooperation in the future.

On the day, King Hermes (trained by Yoshihito Yahagi and ridden by Rusei Sakai) had travelled from Japan to compete in the July Cup.
