On 28 September, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended a private viewing of “The Carpenters’ Line: Woodworking Heritage in Hida Takayama” at Japan House London.
This exhibition introduces the woodworking skills of the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture through forest materials, processing tools, traditional crafts and furniture design.
At the reception, Ambassador Hayashi expressed his eagerness, through this exhibition, to gain a deeper understanding of the development of Hida craftsmanship over the centuries and of how the relevant traditions were handed down from generation to generation.
