On 24 November, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime visited the Oxford Union, where he delivered a talk. His remarks covered the current situations vis-a-vis Russia, Ukraine, China, North Korea and elsewhere in the international community; global issues such as climate change; and the partnership between Japan and the UK, as illustrated by their cooperation in the field of security and defence as well as their efforts to forge a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

At the black-tie dinner afterwards, Ambassador Hayashi discussed Anglo-Japanese cooperation and the international situation with members of the Oxford Union.

Note: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, founded in 1823 to promote freedom of speech. They organise speaker events and debates by inviting internationally prominent individuals across politics, academia and culture. They are mainly comprised of students of the University of Oxford and have over 10,000 active members.
