On Monday 27 February, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi visited Eton College. They retraced the route taken by Crown Prince Hirohito (later Emperor Showa) during his visit to Eton College in 1921, which included the College buildings and Chapel. While there they saw some historical collections related to Japan that the College holds and an exhibition on the Japanese poetry anthology Nijūichidaishū, which Crown Prince Hirohito presented to the College following his visit. They also interacted with Eton students there.

Afterwards Ambassador and Madame Hayashi talked about educational exchanges between Japan and the UK, Anglo-Japanese relations and the international situation with the Provost of Eton College, The Rt Hon the Lord Waldegrave of North Hill, and other people of the College.
