Ambassador’s Commendation - UK-Japan Music Society

On 30 March 2023, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation to the UK-Japan Music Society.

Since its establishment in 1992, the UK-Japan Music Society has promoted exchange between the two countries in the field of music by organising concerts by the UK-Japan Choir and involving young British and Japanese musicians in its events.

Ambassador Hayashi praised that the UK-Japan Music Society had introduced Japanese music and artists to the British people for 30 years and promoted musical exchange between the UK and Japan through choirs involving British and Japanese people, and paid tribute to the enormous contribution of all involved, including sponsors and supporters as well as the society’s members.

In response, Mr Jonathan Gregory, founder and president of the society, recalling the society’s activities since its establishment, said that he was honoured to receive the commendation and expressed his gratitude to society members and sponsors for their support.

The ceremony was followed by a commemorative concert, where those in attendance enjoyed the inspiring musical collaboration between the UK and Japan.
