Ambassador and Madame Hayashi’s visit to Clare Hall, University of Cambridge

On 19 April, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended a sakura cherry tree planting ceremony held at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, together with Professor Alan Short, President of Clare Hall and the Sakura Cherry Tree Project. In his remarks, Ambassador Hayashi highlighted the cordial ties and deep friendship between the two countries and expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the Project.
At the dinner afterwards, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi exchange views on Anglo-Japanese relations and the international situation with the professors and fellows of the University of Cambridge and people related to the Project.
Sakura Cherry Tree Project
The Sakura Cherry Tree Planting Project started in 2019 and since then has overseen the planting of more than 8,000 trees all over the UK, commemorating 150 years of Japan-UK friendship and the continued cooperation between the two nations. The project is ongoing, with the aim of having a total of 10,000 trees planted.
