Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attend launch event for the Atomic Bomb Exhibition in Durham
2023/6/6
On 6 June, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended a launch event for the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition at the Oriental Museum, Durham University. This exhibition is jointly organised in various locations around the world by the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to convey the reality of the atomic bombings widely outside Japan. The event has been held five times in the UK and is taking place in Durham for the first time.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Hayashi noted that the G7 Hiroshima Summit had refocused the attention of the participating leaders who visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on the absolute importance of maintaining peace. He also stated that the exhibition would be deemed a great success if it helped visitors grasp the tragedy of nuclear weapons and fostered in them the desire to create a more peaceful world.
The exhibition is being held in the Oriental Museum, Durham University from June 7 through September 10. For further information, visit the web site of Durham University.
