Ambassador’s Commendation – Professor Alessio Patalano

On 15 June, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime awarded the Ambassador’s Commendation to Professor Alessio Patalano, King’s College London.
Professor Patalano has long worked in the field of Japan-UK security and defense cooperation and has played an important role in promoting a better understanding of the Indo-Pacific region in Europe. In recent years, he has been instrumental in the dissemination and implementation of respective security and defence strategies established by Japan and the UK government, and has contributed to the development of security and defense cooperation between the two countries.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Hayashi praised Professor Patalano for his role in revitalizing the exchange of personnel between the two countries when Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force training ship KASHIMA made a port call to London in June last year, leading a lecture by the KASHIMA's Commander to British officials and an exchange of young cadets.
In response, Professor Patalano said that he was honoured to receive the commendation and expressed his wish to continue contributing to the security and defense cooperation between Japan and the UK.
