Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime's congratulatory message for Mr ODA Tokito on his Wimbledon Championships victory
2023/7/17
I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr ODA Tokito on winning his first Gentlemen's Wheelchair Singles tennis title at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships on 16 July.
The final was against Mr Alfie Hewett from the UK. I understand many fans in Japan and the UK watched the match on TV and were heartened by their outstanding performances. The final was also very significant in terms of facilitating further UK-Japan exchange. I would like to pay sincere tribute to both players.
Mr Oda Tokito at the age of 17 has now won two consecutive Grand Slam tennis tournaments following the French Open in June. I look forward to his continued success and to seeing him back in Wimbledon next year.
