Ambassador Hayashi’s attendance at a symposium on traditional sake brewing

On 25 September, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime attended a symposium on traditional sake brewing, "Refreshing perspective - Women’s voices on the future of Sake & Wine -", hosted by the Government of Japan at Japan House London.
The symposium was held to raise awareness of traditional sake brewing in the UK for the purpose of promoting dialogue between Japanese and British stakeholders. Two leading female brewers from both Japan and the UK were invited to the talk-show, followed by a reception where Japanese sake and wine were paired with various dishes, including Japanese seafood.
In his welcome speech, Ambassador Hayashi noted the importance of promoting Japanese sake, which perfectly embodies Japanese tradition and culture, to people in the UK with the aim of deepening their understanding of Japan and further reinforcing the partnership between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the symposium would give a deeper insight into sake brewing and help British people to enjoy Japanese sake and culture more than before.
