From 9 to 10 October, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime attended the Labour Party Conference held in Liverpool, and exchanged views with The Rt Hon David Lammy MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, The Rt Hon John Healey MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, Jonathan Reynolds MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Business and Trade, and Catherine West MP, Shadow Minister for Asia and the Pacific at Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

On 9 October, Ambassador Hayashi had a meeting with The Rt Hon John Healey MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, and exchanged views on a wide range of topics including the international security environment surrounding Japan and the UK as well as the Japan-UK cooperation on security and defence through the Global Combat Aviation Program (GCAP).
