Ambassador and Madame Hayashi’s attendance at the 25th Anniversary Ceremony between Derbyshire & Toyota City

On 24 October, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended a ceremony celebrating the 25th anniversary of the international partnership between Derbyshire and Toyota City. Derbyshire and Toyota City have had the partnership since 1998, when a manufacturing subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation was established in South Derbyshire, and this year marks the 25th anniversary. This ceremony was held to commemorate this occasion and was attended by Mr Ota, Mayor of Toyota City and Mr Kimoto, Chairman of Toyota City Council and others coming from Japan.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hayashi, touching on the history of Japan and Derbyshire, mentioned that Toyota Motor Corporation's activities are a shining example of Japanese businesses have acted as good corporate citizens in the UK, contributing to the local community. He also expressed his hope that the ties between Toyota City and Derbyshire will continue to deepen in the future, as Japan and the UK become increasingly important global strategic partners.
