On 4 July, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime attended an event at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Nomura's presence in London.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hayashi paid tribute to Nomura for its solid presence in the City of London since it had started its operation in 1964. He also emphasised that the visit of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress to the UK in the last week of June had achieved a great deal in further promoting the close and extremely cordial relations between Japan and the UK, including an opportunity of a banquet hosted by the Lord Mayor and the City of London Corporation at the Guildhall on 26 June. The Ambassador stressed that such a strong partnership between the two countries would give impetus to the efforts of the Government of Japan to shift ‘from savings to investment’ through stable asset formation by its citizens. He also drew the participants’ attention to Expo 2025 due to take place in Osaka and expressed his hope that, with the business climate in both Japan and the UK vastly improving, we would see increased investment and strengthened cooperation between Japanese and British companies in both directions.
