Professor Sir Brian Hoskins to receive 2024 Japan Prize

On 23 January, the International Science and Technology Foundation announced Professor Sir Brian Hoskins (UK), as joint winner of the 2024 Japan Prize with Dr. John Wallace (USA) in the field of "Resources, Energy, the Environment and Social Infrastructure”.

For this year’s Japan Prize, Prof Hoskins has been recognised for his distinguished contribution to the establishment of a scientific foundation for understanding and predicting extreme weather events.

The Japan Prize is awarded to scientists and engineers from around the world who have made original and groundbreaking achievements in their fields, and which contribute significantly to realising peace and prosperity for all humanity.
