2024/1/31

On 31 January, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime attended the Tokyo-London Financial Seminar 2024 held at Stationers' Hall, co-hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the City of London Corporation.
In his speech, Ambassador Hayashi spoke of the growing partnership between Japan and the UK, citing the economic ties in financial services between Japan and the UK, the dialogue framework between the two countries’ financial regulators, and the cooperation between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the City of London. He emphasised the efforts of the Government of Japan to shift ‘from savings to investment’ through stable asset formation by its citizens, including its policy plans for promoting Japan as a Leading Asset Management Center published in December 2023, and expressed his hope that, with the Japanese economy on an upward trajectory, financial firms in London will become increasingly active in expanding their investment in Japan.
