Ambassador Hayashi’s meeting with Mr Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, and dinner with the GMCA delegation to Japan

On Tuesday 13 February, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime visited Manchester to exchange views with Mr Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, following his visit with the Greater Manchester delegation to Osaka and Tokyo last December.
Ambassador Hayashi hosted a dinner in Manchester for members of the delegation and Japanese companies involved, and he praised the efforts of all, noting that it was unprecedented for a region in the UK to send such a large delegation to Japan, with such a diverse group of members focused not only on business but also on fields such as academia, culture, and sport. He remarked that the delegation has achieved greater success than any other similar delegations ever before.
Mayor Burnham expressed his gratitude to all those involved in supporting the visit, in both Japan and the UK, and stated that he would further strengthen relations with Japan particularly at the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025.
