Ambassador & Madame Hayashi attend Hanami event in Regent’s Park
2024/4/4
On 4 April, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended a Hanami cherry blossom viewing in Regent’s Park organised by the Sakura Cherry Tree Project, marking the fifth anniversary of the tree planting ceremony since this project started by planting cherry trees in Regent’s Park in November 2019. The late-flowering Taihaku cherry trees have produced magnificent white flowers, which delighted all those gathered for the event.
At a reception at the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation following the Hanami viewing, Ambassador Hayashi expressed his gratitude for the tireless efforts of those involved in the Sakura Cherry Tree Project, which has planted more than 7,500 cherry trees across the UK since 2019 and is working arduously towards a target of 10,000 trees. He also expressed his appreciation of the Hanami event in Regent’s Park, reflecting the profound attachment Japanese people feel towards cherry trees and the trees’ unique place in Japanese culture.
