On 12 April, the Embassy, together with the Sakura Cherry Tree Project, hosted a Hanami cherry blossom viewing event at St Fagans National Museum of History in Wales for the first time since the planting ceremony was held there in November 2020. The gathering was attended by Rt Hon Vaughan Gething MS, First Minister of Wales, Ms Kate Eden, Chair of Museum Wales, and many other distinguished guests in Wales.

Ambassador Hayashi expressed his gratitude that the cherry trees, symbols of the bonds between Japan and Wales, were in bloom and delighted visitors to the museum each year. He also voiced his wish that the growing Japan-Wales relationship, which was deepening in various areas including the economy and business, would prosper further in the years to come.

During the tour of the museum led by the gardeners and the curators, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi viewed the beautifully blooming cherry trees and exhibits of traditional Welsh arts and crafts.
