Ambassador and Madame Hayashi’s attendance at the 2024 World Marmalade Awards Ceremony

On 20 April, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended the 2024 World Marmalade Awards Ceremony at the Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens in the Lake District.

The award ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Yawatahama City, Ehime Prefecture, Mr Ichiro Oshiro among others distinguished guests.
 
At the ceremony, Ambassador Hayashi extended his congratulations on the bestowal of the Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays on Ms Jane McCosh, the founder of the award, for her longstanding contribution to Japan-UK relations including initiatives such as the award, and congratulated this year's recipients of the Marmalade Award. In addition to the award ceremony a booth to promote and introduce Japanese culture was set up at the festival, introduced Japanese tea, sake, and provided a wonderful opportunity to introduce Japan’s culture.
 
Ambassador Hayashi and Mayor Oshiro also enjoyed the cherry trees planted at Dalemain Mansion in 2021 as part of the Sakura Cherry Tree Project.
