2024/5/12
On 12 May, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended “the First JA Group Safe and Secure Rice Promotion Project event,” a Food and Nutrition education event aiming to promote Japanese rice, organised by Football Samurai Academy, sponsored by three JA Group companies.
At this event, with the cooperation of Japanese football players currently playing in the UK Premier League (Daiki Hashioka, Risa Shimizu, Riko Ueki and Honoka Hayashi) and Japanese chefs from the Japanese Culinary Academy EU, a lecture on football was given by the Japanese players to about 100 Japanese and local children. This was followed by a lecture on the importance of eating a healthy diet and nutrition and the role it plays in sport. After the nutrition education lecture, Japanese rice-balls (Omusubi) with ingredients recommended by the Japanese football players were served.
In his remarks, the Ambassador referred to the characteristics of different types of rice in the world and introduced the fact that Japanese rice is easy to eat, for example in dishes such as sushi or Omusubi, since it contains moisture and is highly nutritious. The Ambassador stressed the importance of eating plenty of rice on a daily basis because rice is particularly suitable for those who wants to improve their physical health..
Ambassador Hayashi also expressed his hopes for the success of SAMURAI BLUE and Nadeshiko Japan teams at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer.
