State Visit of Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress to the United Kingdom (Day 3)
2024/6/24
On 24 June, His Majesty The Emperor of Japan visited the Thames Barrier, one of the largest movable flood barriers in the world, and was briefed by people involved in the river’s tidal defences operations. The history of transport on the River Thames was the subject of His Majesty's research when he was a student at Oxford University.
His Majesty then attended a reception with members of the Japanese community and friends of Japan in the UK, together with His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester.
