State Visit of Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress to the United Kingdom (Day 7)

On 28 June, Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan visited Oxford and were welcomed by hundreds of people.
In the morning, Their Majesties toured Balliol College, where Her Majesty The Empress had previously studied, and then attended a luncheon hosted by the Chancellor of Oxford University, The Rt Hon the Lord Patten of Barnes.

In the afternoon, Her Majesty The Empress received an honorary degree from Oxford University at Convocation House.



After walking around the town, Their Majesties visited Merton College, where His Majesty The Emperor had been a student in the past, and planted cherry trees in the college grounds.


After the visit to Oxford, Their Majesties departed for Japan from RAF Brize Norton.
