On 10 July, the Embassy of Japan in the UK and the Sake Samurai Association co-hosted the IWC (International Wine Challenge) 2024 Award Winning Sake Tasting event, featuring Japanese sake makers who had won this year’s Sake Awards, with many sake lovers and those active in the sake and related industries in the UK as guests.

At the outset, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime congratulated those Japanese sake makers who had gone through the rigorous judgment process this year and conveyed his gratitude to the IWC sake judges, the Sake Samurai Association and many others in the British sake sector for their endeavours over so many years. Moreover, Ambassador Hayashi expressed confidence that sake, a notable symbol of Japanese tradition and culture with its long history and refined flavour, would strengthen its role as a bridge between the peoples of the two countries and would help deepen our extensive collaboration.

At the event, donations were raised for the recovery of the Noto sake brewers who had been severely impacted by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake at the beginning of the year. Please contact Chris@IWCsake.com for donations.
