Ambassador Hayashi’s meeting with Ms Catherine West MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Asia and the Pacific) at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

On 18 July, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime had a meeting with Ms Catherine West MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Asia and the Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and discussed Japan-UK cooperation in a wide range of areas including security and defence, trade and business, and people-to-people exchange, as well as regional issues. They also reviewed the State Visit to the UK by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress in June and reaffirmed the friendship and relationship of trust between Japan and the UK.

Taking this opportunity, Ambassador Hayashi welcomed the recent appointment of Ms West, who has worked for many years as a Shadow Minister, to strengthen Indo-Pacific relations, including with Japan. He expressed his hope to work closely to further strengthen the Japan-UK bilateral partnership.
