On 24 September 2024, Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime presented the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mrs Phillida Purvis MBE at a ceremony held at the Ambassador's residence.
Mrs Purvis founded Links Japan in 1998 with the aim of linking the activities of non-profit and non-governmental organisations in Japan and the UK, and as its representative has contributed to promoting mutual understanding between the two countries. Ambassador Hayashi paid tribute to Mrs Purvis for her distinguished contribution to enhancing exchange and deepening the relationship between Japan and the UK through her various activities. In response, as she was congratulated by family, friends and JHL officials, Mrs Purvis expressed her gratitude to those who had supported her, her delight at the bonds she had formed with the people of Japan through her activities.
