Ambassador & Madame Hayashi's attendance at Japan House London’s opening event of “Looks Delicious! Exploring Japan’s Food Replica Culture”
2024/10/1
On 1 October, Ambassador and Madame Hayashi attended the private viewing and opening event of the exhibition ‘Looks Delicious! Exploring Japan’s Food Replica Culture’ at Japan House London.
This exhibition is the first of its kind in the UK to focus on Japan’s unique culture of producing food replicas. The exhibition showcases Japan's diverse food culture by presenting food replicas specially produced for it by Japanese food sample manufacturers, representing the local cuisine, signature dishes and gourmet foods produced in all 47 prefectures of Japan. In addition to the history and cultural background of food replicas, the exhibition presents the materials, tools, techniques and processes used in their production, as well as illustrating the practicality of food replicas in various fields other than the restaurant industry, such as dietary education, nutrition counselling, medicine and agriculture.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Hayashi mentioned that the exhibition was very unique and that he hoped visitors would discover Japan's regional food culture and a fascination for food replicas and be inspired to visit Japan.
The exhibition runs from 2 October to 16 February 2025. It will also be complemented by various events including talks about Japanese cuisine and cookery demonstrations. For more information, visit the Japan House London website.
