On 3 October, the Embassy of Japan, together with the Japan Local Government Centre, London, co-hosted a reception to welcome the returnees of the UK JET Programme. At the gathering, former JET Programme participants who had returned to the UK this year enjoyed a networking opportunity with those who had developed their careers in the UK after coming back from Japan and with professionals from companies involved in Japan-UK business activities.

Ambassador HAYASHI Hajime delivered some welcoming remarks in which he referred to the deepening of Japan-UK relations in diverse areas, symbolised by the State Visit of Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan to the United Kingdom last June. Against this backdrop, he declared that the JET alumni were a bridge for supporting the Japan-UK partnership and encouraged them to stay connected with Japan via the JETAA (JET Alumni Association).

JET Programme
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, is aimed at promoting the internationalisation of Japan’s local communities by improving foreign language education and fostering international exchange at the community level.
